LORDI To Appear At MTV's EUROPEAN MUSIC AWARDS
October 30, 2006According to ESCToday.com, Eurovision Song Contest winners LORDI will be special guests at MTV's 13th annual European Music Awards in Copenhagen on Thursday, November 2. The Finnish rockers will be making a guest appearance on the show.
Although LORDI is not nominated for a main European award (they are up for the "Best Finnish Band" honor),the huge success of their Eurovision Song Contest entry "Hard Rock Halellujah" and their current album, "The Arockalypse" has led to an invitation from the biggest music entertainment channel.
MTV's 13th annual European Music Awards will feature performances from some of the biggest names in the music world, including NELLY FURTARDO, KEANE, THE KILLERS, SNOOP DOGG, RIHANNA, KELIS and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
LORDI will release their new DVD, "Market Square Massacre", in Germany on November 3. The disc will contain the group's music videos plus the "welcome-home" concert from Helsinki last May when a record audience of 90,000 Finns welcomed their heroes back from the Eurovision Song Contest victory in Athens. It will also contain some extra material from Athens as seen on Finnish TV in May. The band also recorded a new version of their 2003 hit "Would You Love a Monsterman?", and a new music video was shot with a Halloween theme (also included on the DVD).
LORDI's "The Arockalypse" album was recently certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 30,000 copies. The CD topped the album charts and stayed in the Top Ten for several weeks. In addition, "Hard Rock Hallelujah" reached position No. 9 on the Swedish single chart and stayed in the Top 60 for almost four months. "Hard Rock Hallelujah" was also certified gold in Germany, where it was in the Top 10 for seven weeks, having peaked at position No. 5. So far, the single has sold an impressive 150,000 copies in Germany.
